The two things we see most from here are related. One is jaw pain - a click, an ache in front of the ear, a face that is sore on waking. The other is the tooth that had a root canal years ago, never got its crown, and has now cracked. Both are consequences of a clenching or grinding habit, and both respond well once the habit is recognised.
This is also where we see a good number of second opinions on TMJ: people who have been told they need a splint, or an appliance, or surgery, and want to know whether the simple things have been tried first.
